Ruffles and other stuff

I don't consider myself a "girlie girl" anymore, but I do love a good ruffle.  The runways are jam-packed with this retro style a la Laura Ashley.  However, there are a few rules to know before you have a ruffle spasm:

  1. Choose a color that is suitable for you; you don't want to be full of pink ruffles that make you look as if your cat puked all over you!
  2. Know where to have a ruffle.  If you are fairly tall with longer porportions, have at the ruffles. You would do well to wear them loosely on the bottom or full out around the neckline.
  3. If you are average height or under with uneven proportions, then please step away from too many ruffles! If you do not have a  long neck, then wearing too many ruffles around the neckline will make it look as if you are hiding behind a bush! And by all means, you don't want to wear any ruffles on the bottom... It would look like waves on the sea dancing on the wind.
  4. Don't over accessorize!  Ruffles need very little "dressing up," so be sure to leave the disco jewelry at home.
